Dell XPS 13 9310 with Omarchy
Eleven attributable exact-model Linux owners cover graphics, audio, wireless, suspend, biometrics, displays and firmware. Two run Arch and one runs an Arch-based distribution; none directly tests Omarchy.
Bottom line
Direct Arch and Manjaro owners establish successful installations on the clamshell XPS 13 9310. The current ArchWiki snapshot also records working graphics, touchpad, webcams, audio and both wireless configurations, with important qualifications for SOF audio, the AX500 radio, fingerprint login and modern standby. Ubuntu certification and multi-distribution benchmark runs reinforce the Linux base, but none of this directly tests Omarchy. The retained owner reports leave real caveats around the integrated microphone, fingerprint and infrared login, Bluetooth suspend, high-DPI scaling, multi-monitor control and firmware delivery.
Should you use or buy it?
For an existing 9310, identify the AX201 or AX500 wireless configuration, then test the microphone, fingerprint reader, suspend and exact dock before relying on them. Some units need their storage controller changed from RAID to AHCI/NVMe before Arch can see the drive; account for an existing Windows installation before changing that firmware setting. For a used purchase, the FHD+ display is the battery-oriented choice, while the 3.5K OLED needs comfortable 200% scaling. Choose 16 GB or 32 GB because memory cannot be upgraded, and budget for battery wear on a 2020-era machine. Confirm that the listing is the clamshell: the 9310 2-in-1 is a different platform and is not covered here.

Detailed findings
Install and boot
A 3.5K OLED owner completed a direct Arch installation, and a second owner installed Manjaro. Canonical certified a Core i5 configuration for an OEM Ubuntu 20.04 image, while Phoronix completed fresh Ubuntu, Fedora, Manjaro and Clear Linux benchmark runs on an i7 Developer Edition.
In practice Linux installation is established on several named configurations, but none tests the current Omarchy installer. The ArchWiki warns that some units ship in RAID storage mode and need AHCI/NVMe before the installer can see the drive; changing that setting can disrupt an existing operating system.

Desktop and graphics
The direct Arch OLED owner reached a usable desktop, and the current ArchWiki marks the Tiger Lake GPU working. The i7 Developer Edition also completed Ubuntu benchmarks and a later same-machine comparison across four fresh Linux installations.
In practice Tiger Lake graphics have direct Arch and broader Linux evidence. The OLED owner's application-specific scaling work and the age of the benchmark sources still keep this from being a current Omarchy result.

Internal display and brightness
The 3.5K OLED worked for one Arch owner, but comfortable use required 200% desktop scaling and application-specific launch changes. A separate Ubuntu owner was left with oversized text after installing and then removing a third-party scaling setup; a current Mint inventory shows the 1920-by-1200 panel active.
In practice Both FHD+ and OLED have positive display evidence. High-DPI application behavior and clean reversal of custom scaling remain separate usability questions rather than panel failures.

Keyboard, hotkeys and backlight
Dell specifies a backlit keyboard and documents firmware control of the function-key mode, but no retained exact-model Linux report explicitly tests typing, hotkeys or the backlight.
In practice The hardware is present; Linux and Omarchy behavior remains unreported in this corpus.
Touchpad and pointing
The current exact-model ArchWiki marks the touchpad working. The retained owner reports do not separately describe physical clicks, palm rejection or multi-finger gestures.
In practice Basic pointing has a positive Arch documentation result. Gesture quality under Omarchy remains unverified.

Fingerprint and biometrics
One owner got infrared face login working until a reboot left the camera light on but the emitters off. A Manjaro owner found the fingerprint reader to be the only major component that did not work out of the box. A later Arch owner reported that the Goodix 27c6:533c reader worked with Dell's vendor binary but not the open driver under evaluation; the current ArchWiki still marks the fingerprint path partial.
In practice Both biometric paths have configuration-specific limits. The fingerprint route depends on a proprietary binary and alternate libfprint stack, and no retained report establishes a current Omarchy enrollment or login path.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
A current Mint inventory shows the Intel AX201 Wi-Fi driver loaded and its interface up. The current ArchWiki marks AX201 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth working, but documents the AX500 radio as a more difficult branch with partial Bluetooth and Wi-Fi recovery problems after suspend. In a NixOS report, that Qualcomm Bluetooth controller timed out during suspend; disabling it in firmware allowed the machine to sleep.
In practice Identify the radio before transferring a result. The AX201 has the cleaner current record; the AX500 can tie Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and successful suspend together.

Speakers, microphone and audio
The direct Arch OLED owner got audio working by installing SOF firmware, and the current ArchWiki records audio as working with SOF. One current Linux Mint owner separately reported working speakers and a working headset microphone while the integrated microphone appeared in settings but captured no input.
In practice Speaker output has positive Arch and Mint evidence, while the integrated microphone remains a separate unresolved path. Installing SOF firmware does not prove microphone capture under Omarchy.

Camera
The current ArchWiki marks both the RGB and infrared cameras working and documents the infrared-emitter setup. An earlier owner initially used infrared face recognition, but a reboot left the camera light on while the emitters stayed off.
In practice The RGB camera now has positive project documentation, and the infrared path has both setup guidance and an owner-reported regression. Neither establishes current Omarchy video calls or face login.

Suspend and resume
The current ArchWiki documents modern standby rather than deep S3 sleep and warns that AX500 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth recovery can fail after suspend. One NixOS owner could not suspend while the Qualcomm Bluetooth controller was enabled; disabling it in firmware allowed suspend to complete.
In practice The workaround removes Bluetooth rather than fixing its suspend path. Owners should identify the radio and measure a real closed-lid interval on current firmware and kernel before relying on standby.

External displays and docks
One Pop!_OS owner reported external screens dropping or misbehaving when opening Settings. A later Ubuntu report found one WD22TB4-connected monitor available to ddcutil while a second identical display was missing from the utility.
In practice Video output and software monitor control are not the same result. These reports justify testing the exact dock, adapter, connection and monitor combination rather than declaring Thunderbolt displays broken.

Battery, power and thermals
In a same-machine Linux comparison, Fedora led the overall benchmark result while Clear Linux ran warmer, reached thermal limits more often and produced more variable runs. Windows lab tests measured 11 hours of Wi-Fi browsing on FHD+ and 6 hours, 31 minutes on OLED with a light web page. The ArchWiki describes fast modern-standby drain and ties a better sleep result to using AHCI rather than RAID storage mode.
In practice Distribution tuning, display choice, storage mode and sleep state can all change practical behavior. The battery figures describe hardware capacity under Windows, not Omarchy runtime, and the retained corpus still lacks a controlled Omarchy battery or closed-lid test.

Daily use
The FHD+ display is the battery choice
A Windows lab measured 11 hours of Wi-Fi browsing on FHD+, versus 6 hours, 31 minutes on OLED with a light web page
The FHD+ panel also measured brighter at 524 nits, compared with 387 nits for OLED. OLED covered nearly all of Display P3 and responded much faster, but its power draw varied sharply with screen content. These are configuration comparisons under Windows, not Omarchy battery tests.

Two USB-C ports carry almost everything
Either Thunderbolt 4 port can charge the laptop or drive an external display, leaving one free while plugged in
There are no built-in USB-A or HDMI ports. Dell includes microSD and a headset jack, but most desk setups need an adapter or dock. The Linux reports show why the exact dock and monitor path should be tested rather than reduced to a port specification.

Choose the memory before buying
The 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB memory configurations are soldered; the single NVMe drive is replaceable
A used 8 GB machine cannot be upgraded later. Dell supports both M.2 2230 and 2280 drives, while the reviewed units shipped with different SSD vendors, so a listing's capacity does not identify the drive inside.

The radio changes the sleep risk
AX201 has the cleaner record; AX500 needs a suspend and recovery test
The current ArchWiki marks the Intel AX201 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth paths working. Its Qualcomm AX500 guidance still documents partial Bluetooth, firmware crashes and manual Wi-Fi recovery after suspend, matching the failure isolated by one NixOS owner.

Performance
Development and general Linux work
The i7 Developer Edition completed broad Ubuntu benchmarks reliably, and four fresh Linux distributions completed a later same-machine test
The tested i7-1165G7 has four cores and eight threads, and the platform was sold with up to 32 GB of memory. This is a credible base for ordinary development and office work, but the Linux tests date to 2020 and provide no current Omarchy timings.

Long CPU jobs
A Windows stress test found cycling clock speeds and temperatures rather than flat sustained performance
The Core i7-1165G7 initially boosted to 4.1 GHz, then cycled between 1.9 and 3.1 GHz at 71 to 78 C under Prime95. The same review measured a 46.2 C upper-surface hotspot. Treat these as chassis-capacity measurements, not Linux or Omarchy results.
Integrated graphics and older games
Iris Xe is meaningfully stronger than the prior XPS generation, but the thin chassis produced uneven frame rates in Windows tests
The FHD+ review recorded 32.7 frames per second in The Witcher 3 at high settings and 40.5 in Dota 2 Reborn at high settings, with fluctuating clocks and frame pacing. No retained source measures current Linux or Omarchy gaming on this model.

Travel and battery use
The non-touch chassis starts at 2.64 pounds, and FHD+ has the strongest measured runtime, but Linux suspend still needs an exact-machine check
The 52 Wh battery supported an 11-hour Windows Wi-Fi result on FHD+. OLED shortened the light-page result substantially, and an older NixOS report found Bluetooth could prevent suspend entirely. No retained source measures Omarchy runtime or lid-closed drain.
